Isabelle Hasslund- One Camper’s Story

My name is Isabelle Hasslund and I’m 13 years old. Ever since I was little I’ve  loved to perform, I sang and danced all around my home, perfecting monologues from books.
I was nine years old when I first attended R.Evolución Latina D2GB Children’s Performing Arts Camp. It was a great experience and helped me to break out of my shell and be more confident when it comes to my talents. It also gave me a glimpse inside what the world of music was really like, learning from people who have accomplished their dream of dedicating their life to be performer gave me the drive to perform wherever I go.R.Evolución Latina still affects my life today and every summer I go back to the place that gave me the basic knowledge of singing. A place where kids, like me can perform together and enjoy doing it. They instructors have given me the keys to help improve my performing skills. I always felt privileged to have professionals share their knowledge with me to make my skills better. I’ve “Dared to Go Beyond” by taking voice classes to improve my vocal skills and being more serious about my dance classes. I try to take every opportunity that comes my way, one opportunity was auditioning for LaGuardia High School. It is my dream school, a place where I could work on academics and performing.

R.Evolución Latina definitely had an influence on me getting into LaGuardia. RL taught me to push beyond my comfort zone and that part of being a performer is taking risks. I took a risk auditioning for LaGuardia High School, and with a lot of preparation, I got into the school of my dreams! RL has been my drive and inspiration as my performing career blossoms!
