IAN HERSEY IS BACK! Come “brush up your Shakespeare!” Whether you’ve worked with Ian in the past or you’ve never studied Shakespeare before, this is the perfect class for you. Ian will cater to wherever you are in your journey with The Bard, and his fun, excellent technique can be applied to ANY text, not just Shakespeare.
Ian Hersey is a renowned actor, director, and educator who has been part of the RL familia for over a decade. His acting work spans theater, film, TV and commercials, most recently playing Bottom the Weaver in A Midsummer Night’s Dream to rave reviews at The Shakespeare Theater of New Jersey. He has directed over a dozen productions of Shakespeare, including a self-adapted, twenty-five minute version of Othello for the Jose Limón Dance Company. He served as the Assistant Director for both the Tony Award-winning director Dan Sullivan on Cymbeline at The Delacorte and Obie-winning director James MacDonald on the star-studded King Lear at The Public. Also at The Public, Ian worked as the Associate in the Shakespeare Initiative where he helped to start The Mobile Unit and developed/ran many educational programs, including the hugely successful A Midsummer Day’s Camp and The Shakespeare Lab. He has a Masters in Education from Harvard.
