Amy Lizardo is following her dreams of being an artist that shares her light and makes a difference like Doreen did throughout her life and career. Amy’s spirit, desire to inspire young people of color to pursue their dreams and her natural voice touched the hearts of the selection committee. We hope to continue to be inspired by Amy’s perseverance and love for the arts for many years to come.

We had many applicants reapply this year and they were two past finalists that stood out and have made a strong connection with RL over the past year we decided to celebrate their work and light. Congratulations Justin Wing-Timm Yu and Amanda Martinez on being the first Do It Anyway Award Honorees.  We want thank our Selection Committee Marcos Santana,David Baida, Rosie Lani Fiedleman, and Liz Ramos for their time and for sharing their hearts and dedication to celebrating Doreen.
