We are excited to share all the possibilities and want to share some of the wonderful things happening here with RL. This past month Kids Beyond Broadway was able to provide and share the power of art with our campers, volunteers, and their families. Amigo Duende started rehearsal and the RL D2GB School Arts Program is eager to share the wonderful talents of all the artists that make this new children’s musical possible. And from a networking event, to donating socks, our members are always passionate about giving back…take a look at this newsletter and get inspired by what we’ve accomplished together![/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

August 2012

[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”2054″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Through the teamwork of everyone involved at R.Evolución Latina, we have been able to continue to support the children of our communities, as well as the dreams and goals of our own RL team. This month we have so many great stories to share. Our 5th Annual D2GB Summer Camp was a hit! Nearly 30 Broadway performers and International Artists donated their time as volunteer instructors. Our Kids Beyond Broadway program brought the magic of live theatre to our D2GB campers by bringing them to see 2 great shows this month, TheatreworksUSA’s “Skippyjon Jones” & the 2012 NYMF’s “Zapata”. And throughout the month of August, R.Evolución Latina is collaborating with The Walt Disney Studios film “The Odd Life of Timothy Green” along with Hanes and the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions (AGRM) and participating in a Sock Drive to provide new socks to families in need. Most people can say that socks are the least of their concerns when it comes to clothing, but for someone who is homeless, it is a completely different story.

Please bring some new socks to donate! Take a look inside this month’s newsletter and get inspired.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Adult Education Coordinator Hanley Smith, Guest Ensemble Teachers Yaremis Felix, & Reza Salazar.

The D2GB School Arts Program continues to move forward and make a difference. We culminated our “Bullying vs. Ensemble” workshop, and our teachers along with some of our RL volunteers who participated in these workshops, visited the school for their “Moving Up” ceremony on June 28th. And even in this final moment, we were able to be an instrument of evolution. Throughout this process, RL proved once again, that art can and does make a difference, no matter how small, in the lives of youths.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

This month we continued our “BULLYING” workshop at Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health and Science School in the Bronx as well as participated with Pan American International High School in their “Queens Te Quiero Limpio” clean up event.

RL is proud to have been the catalyst for this event (now in its second year), by having brought students from PAIHS last year to a screening of the film “HOME” through our Kids Beyond Broadway program. Thank you to our wonderful team and army of volunteers![/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
