17th Annual D2GB Performing Arts Camp!

Our 17th Annual Dare to Go Beyond (D2GB) Performing Arts Camp was another remarkable experience for our participants. It served as a powerful reminder of the impact the arts can have on young lives and how much these young individuals can teach all of us.

During our 5-day camp, our group of 115 participants came together under this year’s theme of Carnaval. They learned salsa, bomba (Puerto Rican folkloric dance), clowning, hip-hop, and more. Additionally, they had the opportunity to create their own masks for their age group.

We were thrilled to take over 60 campers, parents, and family members on a day trip to Dorney Park in Pennsylvania, creating even more memorable experiences together.

Check Out What Happened:

  • We had 5 inspiring days with 4 Team Directors, 4 Team Captains, and over 15 additional professional teaching artists from Broadway and the New York City theater industry.
  • Our diverse group of artists represented who we are and were deeply inspired by our unique process.
  • Our older group of 35 kids, ages 13-17, had the incredible opportunity to see Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway. For some of these kids, it was their first experience seeing a musical.
  • We connected artists and created a space for collaboration, fostering a sense of community.
  • We concluded our camp at the historic Puerto Rican Traveling Theater in Times Square, sharing the history, legacy, and importance of this place for our community with our young campers.
  • We had a Bonus Day! A day at Dorney Park in Pennsylvania, where our kids had the chance to perform on the main stage in front of the park's audience. The park welcomed us with an incredible lunch pavilion and provided a space for our kids to enjoy the attractions.
WORDS FROM A D2GB CAMPER’S MOM

"I was so proud of all of you. You have built such a beautiful environment and empowering space. My son had the BEST time and I have to tell you…I am always trying to get more of our culture into him- you have done more in a week than I have been able to do in the last few YEARS. You made it fun, exciting and cool. Hope you know what an impact you are making in the world and that you can receive that goodness back."
