From 100+ Applications to 58 Artists: Inside BWS 2026
After two transformative weeks of training, connection, and discovery, the 2026 Beyond Workshop Series comes to a close—but the journey continues for every artist who walked through our doors.
The 2026 Beyond Workshop Series, in collaboration with the Raúl Juliá Training Unit Program, brought together a dynamic group of 58 artists—most of whom identify as Latino/Latine—including 10 international participants from Argentina, Mexico, and Spain. With over 100 applications received, selecting this year’s cohort was no easy task, making this group even more special.
We were especially thrilled to return to the National Dance Institute in Harlem, welcoming a new community of artists into this magical space. Throughout the two weeks, this year’s cohort showed up with openness, courage, and a deep commitment to their craft. We witnessed growth not only in technique, but in confidence, storytelling, and the power of community. Artists challenged themselves, supported one another, and embraced the process with generosity and passion.
Beyond the classes, what truly defined BWS 2026 was the sense of familia—spaces filled with collaboration, vulnerability, laughter, and purpose. These are the moments that remind us why we do this work: to create opportunities, uplift voices, and build a lasting community that continues to inspire long after the program ends.
We are incredibly proud of each participant and deeply grateful to our faculty, partners, and supporters who made this experience possible. The impact of these two weeks will ripple into future stages, studios, and stories around the world.
This is not the end—it’s the beginning of what’s next.
