R.Evolución Latina, in collaboration with Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater, is thrilled to announce Aguardiente: In Process, a new bilingual musical written and directed by Luis Salgado.
Luis Salgado & Daniel Gutiérrez come together for this exclusive glimpse into the making of Aguardiente: In Process —a new theatrical work born from the rhythms of Colombian music, Puerto Rican beats, and the heartbeat of Latine artistry and bond of true friendship.
This first look at Aguardiente! is the result of a creative collaboration with participants from the 2025 Beyond Workshop Series—a talented ensemble of aspiring artists from New York City, Latin America, the Caribbean, and beyond.
Presented in partnership with Pregones/PRTT’s and Raúl Juliá Training Unit, this showcase proudly continues the artistic legacy of Miriam Colón and Raúl Juliá.

Set against a rich tapestry of Hispanic culture and pride, Aguardiente! tells the story of two artists—one from Puerto Rico, the other from Colombia—who navigate the exhilarating yet treacherous path of artistic expression. In the fight to stay true to their vision in a world driven by commerce and conformity, they face the ever-present tension between survival and artistic integrity.
We experience the reflection of their desire for more in life in their art while rediscovering the lessons from their land, and their ancestors. As art is a mirror of life we meet 2 of their characters, Azuquita and Anis as children, still innocent in the river of their home and follow on the journey as they struggle to overcome and conquer the obstacles life puts in their way.
At its core, Aguardiente! is a celebration of friendship, self-discovery, and the transformative power of art. Through moments of doubt, inspiration, and the ever-present question of "What if?", these two artists must overcome obstacles, silence their fears, and embrace their truest selves—all while staying connected to their cultural roots.
