2024 BWS+ Fall Schedule
The BWS+ offers accessible continuing education and professional development for our Beyond Workshop Series artists through virtual and in-person classes, connecting with industry professionals, roundtable discussions, volunteer and performance opportunities.
Our goals are to maintain a deep, valuable connection with our artists and investment in them, further their training, encourage company-generated content, and empower them in their own professional/path. We’re excited to invite all new artists to take part in this exceptional and accessible training program.

JUMP INTO FALL!! Get ready to go back into audition season as we welcome James Rushin back to start our BWS+ Fall 2024! Whether you want to try out a new song, work on old material, or just share in community through song, Broadway’s FREESTYLE LOVE SUPREME’s James Rushin is here to help us dare to go beyond. Full participant and auditor slots available.
ABOUT JAMES: James Rushin is an MD/Composer/multi-instrumentalist/producer based in NYC. He made his Broadway debut as a conductor of Freestyle Love Supreme and she can be seen twice a month music directing Broadway Sessions with host Ben Cameron and a new Broadway cast each show. As an educator, James has taught throughout the country, helping artists find their voice.
Important Note: Anyone on the Waitlist for this class is considered an Alternate/Auditor and SHOULD STILL ATTEND CLASS! Note the room assignment listed on MindBody and be sure to show up for yourself, your classmates and your teacher!
Latin Fusion with Lyrik Cruz

ARE YOU READY TO DANCE? We are so excited to bring Lyrik Cruz to BWS+ 2024. His work can be seen ALL OVER the country, on stage, film & TV. You may recognize him from the IN THE HEIGHTS movie, or his work from SHINE, LIP SYNC BATTLE, THE ELLEN SHOW or the over 20 dance companies he’s choreographed for. We know it’s gonna be a good time!
ABOUT LYRIK: Lyrik Cruz of Puerto Rican descent from Chicago has become a highly acclaimed world renowned choreographer and master instructor who has danced in just about every corner of the world, including Canada, West Africa, South America, Europe, Asia, Singapore, India, Sweden, Italy, France, the Caribbean, and Canary Islands. He has served as a guest Choreographer to over 20 dance companies in the world. In addition to choreographing for shows at Madison Square Garden, Hammerstein Ballroom and major music venues throughout the east coast, for the past 8 years Lyrik has served as a principal choreographer on creative team of legendary choreographer and TV director Debbie Allen, showcased pieces at the Wallis Annenberg Theatre for Nigel Lithgoe, appeared on the CW's hit comedy "Jane the Virgin" as a featured dancer, choreographed for international recording artists J Balvin (Capitol Latino) and Becky G (RCA), Spike TV's "Lip Sync Battle", The ELLEN Show, Greys Anatomy and the finale of American Idol "The Farewell Season" on FOX. His choreography work can be seen In the feature film "SHINE" Which was released in theaters nationwide in Oct. 2018.
Cruz' is also part of the creative team for Norman Lear’s IMAGEN AWARDS where he serves as the creative director and choreographer .
Most recently Cruz garnered nominations for the CHITA RIVERA AWARD in NYC and the World Choreography Awards in LA for his work on the movie “SHINE” for outstanding choreography in a film and was also a featured dancer in Warner Brothers “In The Heights” the movie and “Spirited” on Apple+ starring Ryan Reynolds and Will Farrell.
Cruz adds a unique flair and vibrant energy to every project he is involved in. Cruz is on a mission to share his passion with the world and bring his Latin fusion to the forefront of TV/film.
