Gabriela Garcia is a native of La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico. She feels grateful to have been on Broadway for so many years and blessed to be able to give back to her community. Her passion for the arts brought her to join Luis Salgado and R.Evolución Latina at the beginning of 2008. Gabriela follows the RL motto of “Dare to Go Beyond”. She’s a passionate teacher, inspiring, mentoring and instilling her values and work ethic into the young Latino community. She is a recipient of “El Diario’s 2010 Mujeres Destacadas” award and a member of the advisory board for the Broadway League’s initiative “Viva Broadway.” She is currently Movement Associate for the production of Sweeney Todd at the Barrow Street Theater. Formerly Co-coordinator and faculty for the Joffrey Ballet School’s “Joffrey Ensemble” and Jazz and Contemporary Program as well as a former cast member and dance captain for CHICAGO The Musical on Broadway and National Tours. Gabriela trained as a classical dancer and eventually moved on to Musical Theater. She has taught Ballet, Jazz and Theater Dance at schools across Germany, Austria, Mexico, Peru, Sweden, and in various schools in New York. Her choreography credits include the Public Work’s Twelfth Night, Preludio’s Production of CHICAGO and Sweet Charity in Lima, Peru, the Joffrey Ballet School’s NYC Jazz and Contemporary summer intensive performances, BC/EFA benefits, and R.Evolución Latina’s Choreographer Festival. She has performed in musicals such as Roman Holiday (Guthrie), West Side Story, Joseph…Dreamcoat, Carousel and the Vienna and Mexico City companies of CHICAGO where she played the role of “Velma Kelly” in their native language. As a voiceover actor, her voice can be heard in numerous TV commercials and radio spots for the national Hispanic market as well as Spanish audio-books. She is extremely proud to be a part of the R.Evolución Latina leading team and believes that everyone deserves to have access to the arts.
