Dance-A-Thon 2015 Conclusion

3rd Annual Dance-A-Thon Raises $26,800

Fundraisers, Campers, Volunteers, Donors and Broadway artists danced to raise our goal of $26,800 to support RL programming.

The 3rd annual Dance-A-Thon took place on October 24th. After 6 weeks of online fundraising 60 fundraisers and 200 attendees hit the floor to dance for 5 hours and help us surpass our goal.

Cast members from On Your Feet, The Story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan joined us to kick off the event with an inspiring performance from the youth of the show Eduardo Hernandez, who plays young Emilio and Kevin Tellez, who is the Young Emilio standby. Founder/Director Luis Salgado, Doreen Montalvo, Eric Ulloa, Henry Gainza, Linedy Genao, Brett Sturgis, and Ana Villafañe came to get everyone On their Feet.

Broadway performer and long time supporter Rickey Tripp led the Dance-A-Thon keeping the 60 participants motivated and engaged with his spirit and versatile dance moves. Guest artists Jose Ozuna, Roddy Kennedy, Michael Fielder, Gabriela Garcia, Talia Castro-Pozo, and Cookie ELizabeth kept the floor active with a variety of dance styles, from hip-hop to salsa and samba. DJ Franklyn Ayala brought the beats for us again this year.

Gigi's PlayhouseThis year a portion of monies raised were donated to Gigi’s Playhouse-NYC an organization that provides educational programs utilizing the arts, to individuals with Down Syndrome at no charge.

Proceeds from this event will go towards RL programs like the Children’s’ Performing Arts camp, the adult education program and their 2016 Choreographers Festival that will unite international dancers with New York dancers and showcase the work of Choreographers.

This event is possible due to sponsors like Taboon, Havana Central, EXHALE, Taj Lounge, CHICAGO, Broadway Dance Center, Disney Theatricals, Sound Associates and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
